Sustainability

Fabric

We used a high quality Italian fabric containing ECONYL®  fiber made of pre and post-consumer waste (nylon scraps / fishnets and carpet fluff) otherwise polluting the Earth.  ECONYL® is 100% regenerated nylon fibre.. Using fabrics like this drives the industry towards a sustainable future. It’s infinitely recyclable and can unleash infinite possibilities for makers, creators and consumers. It’s exactly the same as virgin nylon and can be recycled, recreated and remoulded infinitely. The quality of this fabric means it's also chlorine resistant, sun cream and oil resistant, provides UV protection, two-way stretch and is pilling resistant.

FOR EVERY 10,000 TONS OF ECONYL® RAW MATERIAL, WE ARE ABLE TO:

Save

70,000

barrels

of crude oil

Avoid

65,100

tonnes

of CO2 eq. emissions

As well as being a solution on waste, ECONYL® regenerated nylon is also better when it comes to climate change.   It reduces the global warming impact of nylon by up to 90% compared with the material from oil.

Our swimwear pieces are self lined which means the lining is the same as the outer fabric. Our fabric branding tags are also made of recycled materials.

Our cropped T shirts are made from 100% Combed Organic Cotton, Fair Wear accredited, CO2 Climate Neutral and are PETA vegan approved.

Packaging

Our boxes are recycled and compostable. Our No Issue packing tape is water-activated, which is one of several environmentally friendly benefits. It’s made from 100% recycled FSC and using soy based ink. Purchasing with No Issue, meant we joined the Eco packaging alliance and they planted a tree in the Amazon in our honour.

The delivery bags we use for smaller orders (and where requested) are by Wastebased and are also certified home compostable, plant based and non toxic.

Our branded bikini pouches are GOTS organic cotton canvas. We do not recommend you wash your items in these but they can be used to store your bikini safely together or alternatively reused as a beach pouch to keep your phone sand free, cable pouch, jewellery or of your choosing.

Our stickers are 100% recyclable and printed with a soy based ink on acid free paper. Tissue paper, notecards and swing tags are acid free and recycled.

Swimwear liners

These transparent, adhesive liners are certified Commercially Compostable so they’ll only stick around as long as needed! Perfect for swimwear, underwear etc. The sticker is a coated transparent high gloss film produced from wood pulp (especially formulated to contain a high percentage of renewable materials) and the backing is white glassine paper (100% recyclable and 100% biodegradable). NOTE our comLINERS are made using compostable adhesive which has a lower melting point than traditional adhesive. If the adhesive does 'melt' off the liner and onto the garment, it will wash off easily in warm-hot water.

Giving Back - Planting Super Corals

£1 or €1 of every order will be donated to buying super corals for The Coral Gardeners https://www.coralgardeners.org/ to plant. They are revolutionising ocean conservation after 30-50% of the world’s coral reefs have been lost in the last 30 years (NOAA). More than 90 percent of reefs will be threatened by 2030 and nearly all reefs will be at risk by 2050 unless action is taken now to reduce the threats (NOAA). CORAL REEFS SUPPORT THE WORLD. Super Corals are corals that have survived a bleaching event in the wild and should keep on spawning. Their restoration team is growing super coral species in order to build stronger reefs.

Location

We are based in Essex and whilst some of our labels and packaging has been produced here in the UK, the fabric is from Italy and we chose Spain for our first factory due to its nearby location to shorten the delivery miles. All padding insets have been sourced local to the factory.

Our factory near Barcelona is a family run swimwear specialist which began its journey in 1976 and since then, has forged a path that has led them to achieve their goals: The satisfaction of a job well done, providing unique, sustainably and ethically sourced garments that can be enjoyed to the fullest whilst contributing responsibly to society. They have Spain’s ethical wage system and the factory was visited by an associate twice during our first production.

All packing of orders lovingly takes place at our base in Essex by Tracey and her family/friends when extra help is needed.
