Our Story
Children of the Deep is a love letter to youth. An independent British fashion brand focussed on providing SLOW sustainable swimwear for free spirited teens and twenties as an antidote to mass produced fast fashion and restrictive role models.
Devoted to the wild and natural beauty of youth and life with a rebellious spirit . The brand is born to evoke feelings of summer nights and hazy days. A carefree sense of wonder with a rock n roller attitude. From this the bikini bandits were imagined.
Promoting girls of substance, of sport, art, music, and celebrating life with an awareness of issues affecting them today. We support girls with something to say or a passion to live, equality, and a love and need to protect our planet and its people.
Created by Tracey Chalk which began as an idea in 2020 after living with two teenage girls who wanted the kind of bohemian swimwear you find in womenswear boutiques and surf shops of Hossegor and Biarritz without buying into unrealistic fits for teens, non sustainable fabrics, ethical processes, linings and plastic packaging. Available to buy individually they were designed to be mixed with pieces they already owned and made to last long past the life of regular swimwear.
A small scale production, ethically produced in a family run factory in Spain with all pieces created with high end Italian fabrics made from ECONYL® 100% regenerated nylon fibre from fishnets and other nylon and ocean waste, to be worn for more than just the beach.
They are for girls of never ending summer who can wear a bikini everyday in the rain if they please. Celebrating both bodies and quality that can be reworn over and over.
We are all Children of the ocean, of the sun and their futures depend on them not unknowingly adding any more burden to it.
